RPL Nursing Pathway to show your understanding for MSc Nursing Programme

Are you a health professional who wants to take admission to the MSc Nursing course (Adult and Mental Health)? If so, then read this blog. Here, we will tell you about how RPL nursing pathway can help you show your prior learning. Besides that, it will also help you show your understanding and knowledge of two key issues. So, read the whole blog carefully.

In this page, we will provide you with the necessary information for the RPL nursing pathway for taking admission to the MSc Nursing (RN/Pre-registration) Adult and Mental Health.

You need to complete the RPL process related to theory before you start the programme. As per the Nursing and Midwifery Council regulations, you will have to show attainment of the equivalent of 675 of the theoretical hours against identified learning outcomes from Stage 1 of the BSc (Hons) 3-year nursing programme which is generic to all fields.

The RPL (theory) claim is made to have entry to the programme, and it is not weighted for the award.

To show your prior learning in regard to:

Knowledge and understanding:

You have to critically appraise factors that play a huge role in influencing an individual’s health throughout the life and relate these factors to health promotion activities and give proof of informed guidelines for practice.

Skills:

Have a review of different types of communication strategies that can lead to the development of therapeutic relationships.

Values and attitudes:

You need to actively advocate and negotiate on behalf of people to ensure access to support and care.

RPL assessment:

This evaluation will make it possible for you to show your knowledge and understanding of 2 major issues. The first one is communication because it is related to advocacy, and the second one is the factors that influence the mental and physical health of an individual across the life course and relate them to health promotion activities.

The assessment has two parts. You need to complete both parts of the evaluation and include the coursework declaration sheet and feedback and results form with your submission.  The following are the two parts:

First: Advocacy is a necessary skill that you need when working with vulnerable people.

You need to write an essay of 1000-1500 words, using theory and literature to support the writing, to show an understanding of advocacy and the communication strategies used within one of the three scenarios in the NMC safeguarding film.

The communication strategies identified may be either positive or negative, and you have to discuss the significance of being aware of the potential requirement for advocacy within relationships in health care.

Second: By using examples from your own experience and using literature and theory to support your writing, you have to write an essay between 1000 and 1500 words to show that you have clearly understood health and health promotion and identify those factors that may influence a person’s health and relate these factors to activities leading to health promotion.
